LITHO PRINTING VS DIGITAL PRINTING
Compared to other printing methods, litho printing is the best method if you are wanting consistent quality, it is also the most cost-effective for larger print volumes of high quality print. Litho printing produces sharp and clean images and type, you can print metallic and fluorescent inks. It is, however, a longer process than digital printing.
PANTONE COLOUR
Pantone is a standardized color matching system. Pantone are premixed colours, thus ensuring accurate colour matching. Printing can be costly when using multiple pantone colours or adding then to CMYK printing. You can achieve metallic ink prints and choose specific colours, these are premixed and guarantee colour consistency.
EMBOSSING DEBOSSING
Debossing and embossing are two techniques used to imprint images. Embossing, is when an image is pressed into the paper substrate so that the image raises from the surface. Debossing is the opposite of embossing; the area around the image is inverted. It is very impressive and gives a superior finish. There is a one off charge for your embossing block and a make ready. It is a more costly finishing technique, but the end result is very impressive.
HEAT FOILING/GOLD FOILING
Foiling is the application of pigment or metallic foil, often gold or silver to paper where a heated die is stamped onto the foil. Foil stamping can be combined with embossing to create a more striking 3D image.
DIE CUTTING
In the Printing industry, die cutting is a manufacturing process used to cut shapes out of paper etc. Die cutting is impressionable and a creative to make you stand out in the crowd. This process is popular with business cards, letterheads, packaging etc. You can be very creative when it comes to die cutting. A once off die cost applies. It is a more costly finish, but worth it as your end product is unique and will leave a lasting impression.
CMYK COLOUR
Is a method to reproduce full-color photographic images, whereby 4 colors of ink are used. The four inks are printed on the paper in layers of dots that combine to create the illusion of many more colors. CMYK refers to the 4 ink colors used by the printing press.
Spot U.V.
Spot varnishing is a special effect that puts varnish only on specific areas of a printed surface. It is an eye catching finish that will draw your client’s attention to finished areas of the card when applied on the Matt Laminated background. It adds interest and will make your card stand out from the rest!
LAMINATION
There are two types of lamination: Gloss Lamination and Matt Lamination. A popular option for many printed pieces, especially those that will experience frequent handling or be exposed to dirty, greasy or damp environments. Thermal laminating film is the ultimate way to finish printed materials for beautiful and long-lasting results. Laminations crisply and clearly communicate a feeling of substance, a sense that “this is something of quality” Matt Lamination has a lovely luxury smooth silky finish, gloss lamination has a glossy finish and enhances colours.
